DHT
Dihydrotestosterone. The androgen that miniaturizes hair follicles in male-pattern baldness.
DHT is converted from testosterone by 5-alpha reductase. In genetically susceptible scalps, DHT binds to follicle receptors and shrinks them over years. Finasteride and dutasteride block this conversion. Minoxidil works on a different mechanism (blood flow).
