PCOS
Polycystic ovary syndrome. Combination of insulin resistance, androgen excess, irregular cycles.
PCOS affects ~10% of reproductive-age women. Diagnostic criteria: 2 of 3 — irregular ovulation, androgen excess (acne, hirsutism), polycystic ovaries on ultrasound. Treatment: metformin (insulin), oral contraceptives (cycle + androgens), spironolactone (acne), GLP-1 (weight + insulin), letrozole (ovulation).
