Incretin
Class of gut hormones that boost insulin after meals. GLP-1 and GIP are the two main incretins.
Incretin hormones are released by gut cells after eating and signal the pancreas to release insulin. GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) are the two main incretins. Most modern weight/diabetes drugs target these pathways.
